Professor Ma’aji said the partnership aims to enhance disaster risk reduction, improve emergency response, and support sustainable development in the region, which faces challenges such as flooding, drought, insecurity, and displacement.
He emphasized that the NWDC will work closely with NEMA to develop joint frameworks for data sharing, humanitarian intervention, and community-based preparedness to ensure efficient and coordinated action.

Mrs. Umar commended the Commission’s proactive approach and reaffirmed NEMA’s readiness to collaborate, highlighting the agency’s zonal operations in Kaduna, Kano, and Sokoto that coordinate response efforts across the region.
Both agencies pledged continued cooperation in capacity building, early warning systems, and post-disaster recovery to strengthen community resilience in the North-West.
