The first incident occurred on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at about 8:53 a.m., when an eight-year-old girl, Zara’u Muhammad, fell into a well at Kashirmo Village by Sarkakiya in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.
Before the arrival of the rescue team, residents made several unsuccessful attempts to save the child. However, the Service’s rescue team managed to recover her body, and she was later confirmed dead. The remains were handed over to the Ward Head, Abdullahi Garba.
In a separate incident, a six-year-old boy, Ahmad Abdurashid, also fell into a well on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at about 10:02 a.m., at Dandishe Tsamiyar Goodluck in Dala Local Government Area. The rescue team successfully pulled him out unconscious, but he was later confirmed dead and handed over to his father, Abdurashid of Dandishe Quarters.
Reacting to the tragic events, Alhaji Anas cautioned residents, particularly in rural areas, against leaving wells open or digging them along roadways and residential spaces. He urged parents to closely monitor their children and ensure wells are properly covered to avoid similar occurrences.
“These incidents are preventable. Communities must take proactive safety measures to protect their children and reduce such needless loss of lives,” the statement read.
