The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the Groundnut Farmers Association of Nigeria to revive groundnut production in the country and create jobs.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, made this known in Abuja during a meeting with leaders of the Groundnut Farmers Association.
Akume emphasized the importance of groundnut in Nigeria’s economic history, citing its role in the famous Groundnut Pyramids of Northern Nigeria, which contributed significantly to the country’s economy.
The government plans to support groundnut farmers with equipment, seeds, and modern facilities to increase yield and improve their livelihoods.

Abdullahi Muhammad Isa, President of the Groundnut Farmers Association, welcomed the support, stating it would boost production and improve farmers’ welfare.

He stressed the need for mechanization to achieve commercial-scale production and increase exports.
