    Jigawa state approves N3.9 billion for the construction of 60 farm mechanization centres

    Jigawa state executive council has approved the sum of N3,997,490,785.06 for the construction of farm mechanization Office Headquarters and 60 service centres.

    This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa, in an interview with newsmen after the state weekly Council meeting on Wednesday.

    He said that the two centres would be established in each of the 30 state constituencies, in line with the administration’s visionary Agricultural Transformation Initiative, for Greater Jigawa.

    The project according to Musa, is designed to strengthen agricultural mechanization, enhance productivity, and ensure that farmers have increased access to modern farming tools and support services.

    “The establishment of the headquarters and distributed service centres, will provide a coordinated structure for machinery deployment, maintenance, training, and extension support.

    “This will significantly boost agricultural efficiency and contribute to improved food security and economic growth,” he explained.

    He stressed that the Namadi administration remains steadfast, in advancing policies and infrastructure,  that empower farmers, promote mechanized agriculture, and drive the state towards sustainable development and economic transformation.

    Moreover, the Commissioner announced that the council had also approved funds for p outstanding payments to Agro-Input Dealers and Service Providers, under the 2025 Dry Season Rice Inputs Voucher System.

    The approved sum was ₦6,840,668,150.00, noting that it had  underscored the administration’s commitment to supporting agricultural development and strengthening food security.

    He further disclosed that the payment will ensure timely settlement of obligations to partners, who contribute to the success of government’s agricultural programmes.

    “The approved funds cover the supply of the following inputs and services. 2.5 Million kilograms of certified rice seeds, 200,000 bags of 50kg NPK fertilizer and 150,000 bags of 50kg Urea fertilizer.

    “It will also cover 7,500 units of 900W solar water pumps, 50,000 litres of insecticides, 50,000 grams of fungicides, other related ICT and agricultural services for 2025 rice dry season,” he said.

    The government he added, acknowledges the vital role of agro-input dealers and service providers, in enhancing productivity during the dry season farming cycle.

    Furthermore, Mr Musa said the approval of these payments, reaffirms the government’s dedication to promoting a robust agricultural sector, that guarantees increased yields, improved livelihoods, and sustainable economic growth.
