Cleaner Environment: Kano cracks down on sanitation offenders

    By Adam Said Adam, Kano

The Kano State Government has intensified enforcement of environmental sanitation laws, targeting individuals and businesses that violate public hygiene regulations.

The Kano State Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB), in collaboration with the Mobile Environmental Sanitation Court, has stepped up routine inspections across the state, issuing abatement notices to defaulters and ensuring compliance with sanitation standards.

During recent enforcement operations, several offenders were apprehended and fined for dumping construction materials on public roads, thereby obstructing free movement. Authorities confirmed that violators in Ijebu and Unicha areas of Sabon Gari were penalized and directed to immediately clear the materials.

Agro Climate News reports that recently the state government through REMASAB has banned dumping of sand and building materials on roads to strengthen its sanitation framework and sustained cleaner environment.

Managing Director of REMASAB, Muhammad S. Khalil, urged residents to refrain from disposing of waste and construction materials on roads and drainage channels, warning that such practices contribute to flooding and pose serious public health risks.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy environment, with Abba Kabir Yusuf commended for supporting initiatives aimed at promoting environmental sustainability across Kano.

If you’d like, I can also make this more punchy for headlines or adapt it into a radio/TV script.
