The average retail price for refilling a 5kg cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), popularly known as cooking gas, fell by 0.96% month-on-month — from N8,323.95 in June 2025 to N8,243.79 in July 2025, according to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Despite this decline, the report shows a sharp 37.98% increase year-on-year, compared to N5,974.55 recorded in July 2024.

On a state-by-state basis, Adamawa recorded the highest average price for refilling a 5kg cylinder at N9,011.36, followed closely by Rivers (N9,005.00) and Taraba (N8,945.43). Meanwhile, the lowest prices were seen in Yobe (N7,612.00), Niger (N7,662.00), and Nasarawa (N8,000.25).
By geopolitical zones, the South-South recorded the highest average price at N8,511.26, followed by the South-East (N8,321.16), while the South-West had the lowest at N8,073.92.
Similarly, the average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder dropped by 1.91%, moving from N21,010.56 in June 2025 to N20,609.48 in July 2025. However, on a year-on-year comparison, the price rose significantly by 44.51%, up from N14,261.57 in July 2024.
For the 12.5kg cylinder, Adamawa (N22,528.39), Rivers (N22,512.49), and Taraba (N22,363.57) recorded the highest average prices, while Yobe (N19,030.00), Niger (N19,154.99), and Nasarawa (N20,000.62) recorded the lowest.
By zones, the South-South again topped with an average of N21,278.14, followed by the South-East (N20,802.89), while the South-West recorded the lowest at N20,184.79.
