    SAPZ Programme, KNARDA Sign MoAA to Boost Agricultural Development in Kano

    The Kano State Project Implementation Unit (KSPIU) of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Programme has signed a Memorandum of Agreement and Action (MoAA) with the Kano Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA) to strengthen agricultural extension services and enhance rural livelihoods across the state.

    The agreement, signed on October 28, 2025, outlines a collaborative framework between both institutions to expand agricultural innovations, promote modern farming practices, and support farmers with capacity building and input distribution.

    A statement issued by Head of the Media Unit, KNARDA, Muzzammil Mustapha said under the agreement, KNARDA will provide technical support, including mentorship and coaching, data collection, development of training modules, and report writing.

    “The SAPZ Programme KSPIU, on its part, will handle logistics, farmer cluster identification, information dissemination, and the production of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials.

    “The partnership will also cover key initiatives such as Farmer Field Schools (FFS), Farmer Field Days, technology demonstrations, knowledge sharing, and monitoring and evaluation activities aimed at improving productivity and sustainability in the agricultural sector,” he stated.

    The MoAA was formally signed by the Director of Administration and General Services on behalf of the KNARDA Managing Director, witnessed by the Director of Extension Services, while the Knowledge Management and Communication Officer (KMCO) signed on behalf of the SAPZ State Project Coordinator (SPC) in the presence of the Agricultural Productivity Officer.

    Speaking after the signing, officials from both sides expressed optimism that the collaboration will serve as a major step towards transforming Kano’s agricultural landscape, promoting agribusiness development, and improving the livelihoods of rural communities.
