The Kano State Police Command has commemorated Police Week with a community-focused environmental sanitation and tree planting exercise in Fagge Local Government Area of the state.
The event, held at Dandalin Fagge, brought together key stakeholders, including the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the Managing Director of Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB), Dr. Muhammad S. Khalil, traditional rulers, and other dignitaries.

The initiative underscored a shared commitment between security agencies and the community to promote environmental sustainability and public health.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Khalil praised the Police Command’s proactive approach to integrating environmental stewardship into its community engagement efforts. He emphasized the need for collective responsibility, urging residents to support sanitation and tree planting efforts.

The event featured a massive clean-up exercise, with participants clearing weeds and debris from the area. Tree planting activities were also carried out, with the aim of enhancing green cover and mitigating the effects of climate change.
Dr. Khalil further commended the Kano State Government, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for its efforts in advancing sustainable development and improving environmental sanitation across the state. He expressed optimism that the initiative would inspire a sense of ownership and responsibility among residents, leading to a cleaner and healthier environment.
The Police Command’s efforts were seen as a significant step towards strengthening police-community relations and promoting environmental awareness. The event concluded with a call to action, urging residents to take ownership of their environment and work towards a more sustainable future.
