The Kano State Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB), under the leadership of its Managing Director, Dr. Muhammad S. Khalil, has sealed a TotalEnergies filling station located along Maiduguri Road for breaching environmental sanitation regulations.
The facility was found to be in a state of poor sanitation, with visible cobwebs, overgrown weeds, silted drainages, heaps of uncollected waste, and absence of proper waste bins.

Acting promptly, the Environmental Mobile Court, presided over by Magistrate Halima A.B. Wali, ordered the immediate closure of the facility.
In a related development, the court also apprehended other filling stations along Maiduguri Road and Hadejia Road for similar violations, including poor sanitation conditions, cobwebs, offensive odours resulting from indiscriminate urination, and blocked drainage systems.
Agro Climate News reports that the affected stations include A.Y. Maikifi and Fara Fara Filling Stations along Maiduguri Road, as well as A.A. Rano Filling Station along Hadejia Road.
The court imposed fines on the offenders, with an alternative of two weeks’ imprisonment. All fines were settled immediately.
Additionally, several shops along Hadejia Road were sanctioned for non-compliance with sanitation laws, with penalties enforced on the spot.
Speaking on the development, the Managing Director of REMASAB, Dr. Muhammad S. Khalil, urged residents of Kano State to continue supporting the Board’s efforts toward achieving a cleaner and healthier environment.
He also commended the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his unwavering commitment to the Board’s mandate.
