As residents continue to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the Kano State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahir M. Hashim, has carried out an inspection tour of ongoing park construction projects across the metropolis.
The visit, conducted on the second day of the Eid celebration, took the Commissioner to four major sites currently undergoing redevelopment into modern recreational parks. The inspection is part of efforts by the ministry to ensure quality delivery and timely completion of the projects.

The sites, previously encroached upon and converted to commercial use, have been reclaimed by the state government and are now being transformed into green public spaces designed for relaxation, leisure, and children’s activities.
Speaking during the tour, Dr. Hashim emphasised the importance of strict supervision in achieving the objectives of the initiative, noting that the projects align with the environmental vision of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
He said the ongoing developments fall under the administration’s “Green Mandate,” which prioritises the restoration of green areas and the creation of safe, accessible recreational spaces within the city.
According to him, the government is working towards delivering at least 10 functional parks before Eid al-Adha, as part of broader efforts to improve urban environmental quality and enhance the wellbeing of residents.
The Commissioner reiterated the ministry’s commitment to closely monitor all project sites to ensure compliance with specifications and timelines.
The inspection highlights the state government’s continued focus on environmental sustainability, even during festive periods, as Kano moves to reclaim and revitalise its urban green spaces.
