    Barau flags off FGs northwest rice palliative in Kano

    The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau I Jibrin has flagged off the Distribution of Rice Palliative support for the seven states of North West region.

    Jibrin who led the Federal Government Committee for the Distribution, launched the palliative to the needy in Kano state.

    According to him, the palliative was in fulfilment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to ease the hardship of Nigerians in the current economic challenges.

    He explained that the rice palliative is to be given to the needy across communities in Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Jigawa and Zamfara States.

    The Deputy Senate President said the Federal Government Committee for the Rice Distribution is composed of representatives from other political parties across the states to ensure fairness, equity and accountability.

    “The President has done well by giving out palliative. However, the problem was that the palliative support was not fairly distributed, which is why the President changed the strategy of distribution.

    “We are here to distribute the palliative equitably and we are considering committees at the grassroots.”

    Jibrin, who noted the concerns of President Tinubu on the conditions and challenges facing Nigerians, said his economic blueprint is poised to address them.

    He said, “President Tinubu has promising policies that are geared towards uplifting Nigeria’s economic prosperity and revamping industrialization opportunities of Nigeria.”

    Also speaking, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, highlighted that 19 trucks of 25kg of rice are given to Kano for distribution to the needy.

    He also announced that Kano state will get 70 Trucks of subsidized Federal Government rice expected to be launched soon.

    He added that the Federal Government had previously given Kano State 90 trucks of food items and 70 Trucks of fertilizer for distribution to the people.

    On his part, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Downstream, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, appreciated President Tinubu for the interventions, saying it is coming at the right time while assuring continued support of the Kano people to President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
