Governor Mohammad Umaru Bago of Niger State, has said that his Government Agricultural Revolution is aimed at achieving a N2.3 Trillion Yearly Revenue in the State.
He said his agricultural development programs is not the usual Farming system that only produces Foods for Households but it is an economic agricultural reform that would turn Niger State one of the highly revenue earning States in the Country.

Governor Bago who along Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, received a special award as a pensioners-friendly governors from the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) during the 12th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference in Kano, said that, “I also intend to make Pensioners Farmer dependable People’s in my State”.
The award, presented at the Coronation Hall, Government House Kano, recognizes the governor’s contributions to the welfare of senior citizens in Niger State.
Governor Bago expressed gratitude for the award, stating it would boost his morale to do more for pensioners, announcing plans to establish a farm specifically for pensioners, enabling them to participate in modern farming and sustain their livelihood.
He said this initiative aligns with his administration’s efforts to enhance agricultural productivity in the state.
Adding “Niger State has been actively promoting agricultural development, including distributing tractors and implementing empowerment programs for youth and women all on agriculture”
Bago announced the donation of N100 million lifeline money to Pensioners during the programs, sending a resounding echos from the retirees.
Speaking, Governor Yusuf, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo, welcomed delegates and highlighted his administration’s commitment to enhancing the lives of senior citizens.
He emphasized that his administration has settled retirement benefits worth over N16 billion, addressing challenges faced by senior citizens in accessing their benefits.
Mazi Godwin Abumisi, President of the NUP, stated that the awards recognize governors’ contributions to senior citizens’ well-being.
He noted that settling pension and gratuity arrears has significantly addressed economic challenges faced by senior citizens.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Joe Ajero, represented by Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir, described the conference as timely and urged participants to focus on enhancing senior citizens’ welfare.
The conference attracted delegates from all parts of the federation.
Governor Bago said the award signifies to him to do more on pension administration in Niger promising to give maximum attention on pension in his State, dedicating the award to the entire Pensioners in his State.
