Speaking to AgroClimateNews, Muhammad said the essence of the tree planting is to mitigate the effects of the trending climate change affecting the entire world, which will not end until all hands are put on desk.
He said the zoological garden is currently facing challenges as some trees were cut down, as such they need to be replaced and plant even more.
“Planting a tree is often a child’s first act of volunteering for their community. The Panacea Foundation was at Kano State Zoological and Botanical Garden to plant trees and create awareness against climate change. As these trees grow, they will help us stop climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the air, and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere.
“Trees provide many benefits to us, every day. They offer cooling shade, block cold winter winds, attract birds and wildlife, purify our air, prevent soil erosion, clean our water, and add grace and beauty to our homes and communities,” he said.
AgroClimateNews reports that parts of the trees that were planted in the zoo are; 200 Cieba Pantendra, 50 Moringa and 50 Pittosporum crassifolium.
