IAR, ABU Zaria Emerges Overall Best Exhibitor at 2026 LCRI SeedConnect Exhibition

The Institute for Agricultural Research has reaffirmed its leadership in agricultural innovation after emerging as the Overall Best Exhibitor (1st Position) at the 2026 LCRI SeedConnect and Exhibition held in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The event, organised by the Lake Chad Research Institute alongside the Northeast Zonal REFILS Workshop, brought together leading agricultural research institutions, stakeholders, and development partners to showcase innovations aimed at strengthening food systems and improving farmer livelihoods.

The prestigious award was presented by the Executive Director of LCRI, Babagana J. Kabir, to the Assistant Director, Extension, Monitoring and Evaluation at IAR, A. I. Sharifai, who received it on behalf of the Institute’s Executive Director, Ado Yusuf, and the entire management.

IAR earned the recognition for its outstanding exhibition, which featured a wide range of cutting-edge agricultural technologies, improved crop varieties, seed innovations, value-added products, and extension materials. The showcased innovations are designed to address critical challenges such as food insecurity, climate variability, and low agricultural productivity in Nigeria.

Participants and stakeholders at the exhibition commended the Institute’s display for its practical relevance to farmers and its contribution to climate-smart agriculture.

The technologies highlighted by IAR are expected to enhance crop yields, strengthen resilience among farming communities, and support sustainable agricultural development.
