Speaking at the certificate presentation ceremony in Okpella over the weekend, the Plant Director, Engr. Mohammed Ismaeel, described the certification as a milestone that reflects the company’s adherence to international best practices.
“This certification means a lot to us. It is the outcome of hard work and commitment,” Ismaeel stated. “It reflects our alignment with the company’s vision to be a global leader in cement manufacturing — respected for product quality, service excellence, and ethical business conduct.”

He outlined the benefits of the IMS certification to include global recognition, business continuity, waste reduction, improved customer satisfaction, strengthened quality culture, and enhanced compliance with regulatory standards.
Engr. Ismaeel, a strong advocate of the IMS framework, emphasized that the certification symbolizes more than an accolade.
“It is not a certificate for show. It demonstrates our dedication to the principles outlined in our quality, environmental, and health manuals,” he noted.
The certificate was officially presented to the management team by Mr. Anil Rao, Head of Quality Control and IMS Team Lead at Dangote Okpella Cement Limited.
Rao explained that the certification aligns the plant’s operations with three key international benchmarks — Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS).
“Our objective was to build an integrated management framework that ensures consistent product quality, environmental responsibility, and safe working conditions,” Rao said. “With this milestone, Okpella Cement reaffirms its position as an industry leader committed to excellence, sustainability, and global best practices.”
He further disclosed that the certification process followed a structured three-phase route: Capacity Building, Implementation, and Performance Evaluation & Certification — all designed to embed a culture of continuous improvement within the plant’s operations.
With the achievement of the IMS certification, Dangote Okpella Cement joins the league of globally recognized manufacturers operating under internationally certified management systems — a reflection of the Dangote Group’s consistent pursuit of excellence and sustainable growth.
