Former presidential aide to Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has emphasised the urgent need for Northern Nigeria to prioritise agriculture as the cornerstone of its development strategy.
In a post on his official Facebook Page, Ahmad stressed that without a deliberate focus on revrevitalisinge agricultural sector, meaningful economic growth in the region would remain out of reach.

“If we’re truly committed to driving development and economic growth in the North, then agriculture must be placed at the forefront of our priorities,” he said.
Ahmad cited the region’s vast arable land, youthful population, and rich farming history as untapped assets. He urged both state governments and private investors to support farmers with access to finance, modern equipment, and improved infrastructure.
His remarks come amid renewed national conversations about food security, economic diversification, and the role of agriculture in Nigeria’s post-oil future.
