The All Farmers Progressive Association has said that it is prepared to collaborate with the Norwegian government to expand Nigeria’s agricultural value chain along key commodity corridors.
In a statement, the association’s president, Dr Ogbo Joseph Douglas, expressed gratitude to the Norwegian government and Svein Baera, the ambassador to Nigeria, for their readiness and commitment to helping Nigeria in its efforts to modernize its agricultural sector and provide food security for its citizens.

Dr Douglas said “AFPA is one of the largest umbrella of farmers’ organizations, with over 10 million members across all 774 local governments in Nigeria.
“The organisation is already promoting mechanization and automation in farming practices, particularly through the implementation of smart farming,’’ he said, adding that it will embrace any partnerships aimed at alleviating hunger and eliminating poverty in the country.
Speaking on the sidelines of the NorwayNigeria Agribusiness Forum recently in Abuja, Ambassador Svein Baera called on the federal government to increase its investments in agriculture rather than relying exclusively on oil and gas as the country’s main source of income.
He also stated that Nigeria must use modern farming techniques to make use of its vast arable land.
