Amidst the rising cost of fuel and solar energy, a young man in Gombe state, Malik Muhammad Kumo, has fabricated a water pumping machine that can operate without petrol or diesel.
Agro Climate News reports that the water pump machine operates with a car battery, making it easier and cheaper for farmers considering the current hike in petrol, diesel and solar-powered generators.

Muhammad Kumo said he decided to fabricate the machine to ease difficulties facing local farmers across villages in the state.
In a Facebook post by Muhammad Kwairi Waziri and sighted by Agro Climate News, the young man said he spent over three months on the project and that the machine could operate for 24 hours.

He added that the machine, with a capacity of watering farm for a whole day, was manufactured using coils, car batteries, metals and other related equipment.
“The machine has a key that can start it just like a motor vehicle. It also has a place to charge mobile phones and batteries. It is durable and affordable, and can last for 24 hours working on a farm,” the post said.
However, Muhammad Kumo said despite the success recorded in the project, he faced financial challenges which delayed the process and forced him to use substandard equipment.

“I am excited that I have done this, as it will ease the suffering of local farmers in villages. I did it out of my passion to become Independent, creative and support the local farmers because petrol and diesel are very costly these days,” the post quoted him saying.
