    Bauchi education commissioner warns against misappropriation of food items meant for students

    The Bauchi State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Jamila Dahiru, has issued a stern warning to principals, storekeepers, and food masters in boarding schools against misappropriation of food items meant for students.

    A statement from the ministry’s information officer, Jalaludeen Usman, revealed that the commissioner conveyed this message during a meeting specifically organized to address concerns related to food supply in the state’s boarding schools.

    The meeting focused on key areas, including preventing misappropriation, ensuring quality and quantity control, and enforcing timely feeding schedules.

    During the meeting, Dr. Jamila Dahiru stressed the ministry’s unwavering commitment to a zero-tolerance policy concerning various issues, such as the misappropriation of funds, inflated figures for food supplies, delayed or inaccurate reporting of irregularities, and late retirement of funds.

    The commissioner emphasized the paramount importance of trustworthiness and transparency among school officials responsible for food management. Additionally, Dr. Dahiru expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for his continuous support in ensuring timely food supplies and fostering overall improvement in the education sector.
