The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, has disclosed that government is now prioritising the development and application of organic fertiliser in large scale and small holder farming.
He said this will be deliberate in order to avoid the excessive use of chemicals in our farming system.

The minister disclosed this in Calabar at the technical Council of the 46TH Meeting of the National Council on Agriculture and Food Security.
He stated that they will intensify support to local farmers as a way of discouraging the use of assorted chemicals in agriculture.
“In this perspective, our assistance to farmers in the provision of inputs has contributed to the output of crops along the annual and perennial types.
“We will always facilitate in rural communities, roads, electricity, boreholes, water harvesting structure, land clearing activity and appropriate technologies.
