KSHC unleashes second phase Clean-Up crusade in Kwankwasiyya City

The Kano State Housing Corporation (KSHC) has flagged off the second phase of its massive sanitation campaign at Kwankwasiyya City, reinforcing its commitment to a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable urban environment.

Speaking during the exercise, the Acting Managing Director of the Corporation, Engr. Isyaku Umar Kwa, said the second phase of the clean-up initiative aims to enhance waste management, improve waste collection and disposal systems, and ensure cleaner streets and public spaces across Kwankwasiyya City.

He explained that the Corporation is also focusing on the continued beautification of public areas, including parks and communal spaces, to promote community pride and aesthetic appeal.

According to Engr. Kwa, the initiative is designed to encourage residents of Kwankwasiyya City, Bandirawo, and Amana City to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within their neighborhoods.

“Cleanliness is a collective responsibility. We urge all residents and staff of the Corporation to join hands in keeping our cities clean and safe,” he emphasized.

He noted that the sanitation campaign has already contributed to reducing sanitation-related diseases through improved waste management and hygiene practices.

A statement signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment, KSHC, Ismail Garba Gwammaja, said the initiative aligns with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s commitment to reviving the three mega cities initiated during the administration of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

According to Gwammaja, the state government places a high premium on the Kwankwasiyya, Bandirawo, and Amana cities, with a focus on addressing housing challenges, managing urban sprawl, and promoting sustainability through proper resource allocation and accountability.

“The sanitation drives are crucial steps toward realizing the Governor’s broader urban development vision and improving the living standards of residents,” Gwammaja added.
