President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerian farmers of better days ahead, with plans by the Federal Government to provide fertilisers in large quantities and at subsidized rates before the next farming season.
This was disclosed by Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar, who represents Zamfara West Senatorial District, during an interview with journalists.

According to Yari, the initiative is part of the President’s commitment to strengthening citizens’ welfare and ensuring food security through improved access to essential farm inputs.
“The Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will provide fertilizer at the lowest possible price to ensure farmers have enough to cultivate during the next rainy season,” Yari stated. “This policy is central to our food security plan, and I assure you it will encourage farmers and boost farming activities nationwide.”
The lawmaker recalled that when the Tinubu administration came into office, food prices had skyrocketed, with a 50kg bag of rice selling for over N70,000. However, he noted that recent government efforts have begun to ease the situation.
“Prices of commodities have dropped significantly. A 50kg bag of rice that sold for about N70,000 now goes for around N55,000 or less. Millet, which cost N70,000 per 100kg, now sells for N30,000, while corn has also dropped to about N30,000,” he said.
Yari maintained that the government’s ongoing agricultural interventions aim to restore citizens’ confidence and demonstrate its dedication to their welfare.
“We want Nigerians to know that we are truly concerned about their well-being. By God’s grace, we will continue to ensure that farmers are happy, buyers are happy, and everything moves smoothly for the progress of our country,” he added.
