The Waste Management Association of Nigeria (WAPAN) has unveiled a state-of-the-art waste management facility in Kano State, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to improve cleanliness and boost the economy.
The launch ceremony, held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, was led by the managing director of REMASAB, Dr Muhammad S. Khalil, who emphasized the importance of the initiative in promoting a clean and healthy environment.

According to REMASAB’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Ahmad, the facility is expected to support small-scale industries and empower youths to be self-reliant. The Tiga power plant, which generates 10 megawatts, will provide energy support to the facility and other industries.
A “Recycling Village” is also planned to bring together waste management entrepreneurs, fostering collaboration and production.
