Speaking at the event through his Chief of Staff, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdallah, Senator Barau stated that the initiative was designed to empower teachers, recognising their critical role in societal development.

“Recently, we distributed over 40,000 bags of fertiliser to farmers across Kano State. Today, we are extending this intervention to our clerics, Tsangaya teachers, principals of secondary schools, and headmasters of primary schools,” he said.

He emphasised that the fertilisers were distributed free of charge and urged beneficiaries to utilise them judiciously in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on food security.

Earlier in his remarks, Special Assistant to Senator Barau on Media and Publicity, Hon. Shitu Madaki Kunchi disclosed that the fertiliser will be taken to the doorsteps of each of the beneficiaries without paying one Kobo for the transportation.

He added that, “The Tsangaya school teachers (Alarammomi) will get 661 bags, junior secondary school teachers will get 221, senior secondary school teachers will get 392 bags, primary school teachers will get 227 bags, and the rest will be distributed among various groups.”

Expressing gratitude, Musa Auwalu Gwarzo, Chairman of the Headmasters Association in the area, commended Senator Barau for the intervention, describing him as “a leader for all.”
