The Jigawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to agricultural transformation with plans to establish small-scale agro-industries in Gagarawa Local Government Area.
Governor Umar Namadi disclosed this while flagging off the disbursement of empowerment packages to farmers and residents of the arearea.

He said the initiative is part of the state’s strategy to promote value addition, create rural jobs, and strengthen the agro-processing sector.
According to the governor, the proposed industries will include rice milling and other agro-based ventures designed to enhance productivity and reduce post-harvest losses.
“Our goal is to transform Gagarawa into an agricultural processing hub that supports farmers and provides sustainable livelihoods for our youth,” he stated.
Governor Namadi also announced that the construction of the Medu–Dandidi–Madaka road has been included in next year’s budget to ease the movement of farm produce and goods from rural communities to major markets.
In addition to the agro-industrial initiative, over 2,000 residents benefited from empowerment packages comprising ₦70 million in cash, motorcycles, sewing and grinding machines, spaghetti-making machines, and bicycles for students.
The state government also enrolled over 100 cattle rearers into nomadic schools, emphasizing education as a tool for modernizing the livestock sector.
The governor further commissioned several community projects, including the Hajiya Maryam Namadi Tahfizul Qur’an School, a town hall, and the renovated Gagarawa Central Mosque, underscoring his administration’s integrated approach to rural development.
The event attracted top government officials, including the Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council, and other dignitaries.
