A new N5 billion Public–Private Partnership (PPP) between the Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority (LBRBDA) and Amisec Industrial Company is set to transform the Doma Dam Irrigation Area in Nasarawa State into a modern organic sesame production and processing hub.
The project, tagged “AgroCity Doma,” will cover 1,000 hectares and feature a solar-powered irrigation system and a processing plant with the capacity to handle 10 metric tons of sesame seeds per hour.

Daily Trust reports that over 1,000 local farmers are expected to benefit directly from the initiative, which is projected to generate $7 million annually from the export of organic sesame seeds. The project will also create 500 direct jobs and 2,000 indirect jobs, boosting the regional economy.
Under the PPP arrangement, LBRBDA will provide the irrigable land and water from Doma Dam, while Amisec will handle the investment, infrastructure development, crop cultivation, and management.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Engr. Tersee Ninga, Managing Director of LBRBDA, said the project aligns with the Federal Government’s goal of maximizing irrigation resources for food security and industrial growth.
“AgroCity Doma shows how collaboration can drive food production, job creation, and agricultural expansion,” he stated.
Abdulmuttalib Mohammad, CEO of Amisec Industrial Company, described the initiative as the first phase of a long-term plan to build a sustainable sesame value chain for local and export markets.
Construction and planting are scheduled to begin in 2026, with full operations and exports expected by early 2027.
