Dr. Hashim said the engagement provided an opportunity to explore joint strategies that will accelerate climate resilience, afforestation, waste-to-value initiatives, and community-driven environmental action across the state.
He highlighted Kano’s major achievements in climate governance, including the development of the State Climate Change Policy and Action Plan, the creation of climate desks across all 44 Local Government Areas, the solarization of key public facilities, and the establishment of a five-million seedling nursery to support tree planting and forest restoration efforts.
The Honourable Minister, Malam Balarabe Lawal, lauded Kano’s initiatives and reaffirmed the Federal Ministry’s readiness to deepen support through joint technical coordination, green financing mechanisms, and innovative partnerships aimed at promoting rainwater harvesting, circular economy models, and the strengthening of forest guard operations.
Both parties expressed confidence that the collaboration will further position Kano as a leading state in climate action, renewable energy adoption, and sustainable development in Nigeria.
