Kano Govt recommissions Dorayi Compost Plant, boosts waste management

The Kano State government has successfully recommissioned the Dorayi Compost Plant, a key component of its Waste-to-Wealth Initiative.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Hashim said the recommissioned plant will promote the production of organic manure, improve waste management practices, and create job opportunities for youth in the state.

“Additionally, it will contribute to better public health and enhanced soil quality across Kano State.”

Dr. Hashim highlighted the environmental benefits of compost manure, noting that it is purely organic, improves soil fertility, and conserves biodiversity. “Compost manure has no harmful effects on aquatic organisms when washed away by runoff,” he explained.

The commissioner invited partners to join the state government in advancing its Waste-to-Wealth Initiative, aimed at building a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient environment by turning waste into a valuable resource.

The recommissioning of the Dorayi Compost Plant demonstrates the Kano State government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its efforts to address waste management challenges in the state.
